Black Guard Class ZZ pin gage sets, manufactured and assorted by Vermont Gage, consist of an extensive collection of pin gages that offer faster and accurate measuring of small holes. All the individual pin gages in each set are made of 52100 tool steel, heat-treated to 60-65 RC hardness, and finished with Black Guard black-oxide treatment. This additional step helps these metal plugs effectively defend against rust and corrosion and provides remarkably long tool life. Vermont Gage Black Guard pin gauges can be used for GO/NOGO gaging. If the GO tool (for checking the lower limit of a hole) can enter the hole and the NOGO tool (for the upper limit) cannot, then the dimensions of the hole meet the requirements. The plugs can quickly measure the diameters of drilled holes, calculate the distance between holes, and check the width of slots. The pin gages can also be employed in setting micrometers, calipers, etc. These NIST traceable pin gages come with the Certificate of Accuracy, and they are shipped in a comfortable box. Each plug included in the sets is 2-inch long with 10µ or better finish. The Class ZZ gage pins have tolerance of 0.0002 inches (0.005 mm), and the sets come in both GO (plus) and NOGO (minus) models. Also, they are round within .0001 inches (0.0025 mm). Moreover, the Black Guard treatment penetrates the plugs around 0.000040 to 0.000060-inch deep so that they can visibly reveal wear patterns if any.
