Unmounted or Mounted Flap Disc for Finishing Applications. Portable Aluminum Oxide flap discs from TTC Production are formed of hundreds of abrasive flaps bonded in a resin matrix. Preferred by everywhere from metal fabrication shops to homeowners’ garages, TTC flap discs are safe in operation. It offers an excellent final finish on any metal surface, particularly steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. These flap discs are in two variants: one mounted with 1/4 inch shank and the other unmounted with a 1-inch or 5/8 inch arbor hole. Secured to a hub, these polishing/grinding wheels can be easily shaped for contour work and used with any electric tool. The speed of the grinder must be compared to the speed marked on the wheel which is at a maximum of 30,000 RPM in this case. The product in discussion has the ability to vary the pressure as needed to provide a coarser or smoother finish. All models have Aluminum Oxide as abrasive material of grade Fine, Medium, or Coarse. Varying models are available in grit standards 60, 80, and 120 grit sizes. Disc with lower grit numbers will suit standard grinding and those with higher grit numbers provide smoother finishes. Choose flap disc with one or two grits coarser than required for best results. TTC offers flap discs of varying thickness which provides aggressive stock removal and longer life. Mounted flap discs come in varying sizes 3/4 inch, 1 inch, 1-1/2 inch, 2 inches, 2-1/2 inches, and 3 inches in diameter, with a face width of 3/4 inch, 1-inch, and 2 inches. Unmounted flap discs are offered in sizes 4 inches, 6 inches, and 8 inches in diameter with a face width of 1 inch and 2 inches.
